
SHU Winter Student-Athletes Honored for Academics by NEC

170 student-athletes were named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll
BRIDGEWATER, N.J.—The Northeast Conference (NEC) has announced the winter All-Academic awards. Sacred Heart University had 170 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, highlighted by a pair of Winter Scholar-Athletes.
Olivia McNicholas from swimming and diving and Joey Reilly from men's basketball were named NEC Scholar Athletes in their respective sports for the winter season.
McNicholas brings in her second consecutive NEC Scholar-Athlete honor after being named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team. She had a record-breaking season this year with five NEC Diver of the Week recognitions. The Hicksville, N.Y., native broke her record in the 1M board twice over the winter campaign and finished second in the 1M and 3M at the NEC Championships. McNicholas graduated with a degree in Nursing, finishing her collegiate career with a cumulative GPA of 3.78.
Reilly earns his first NEC Scholar-Athlete honor after a stellar year on the court and in the classroom. The All-NEC third team brings in the first scholar-athlete honor of his career after earning CSC Academic All-District honors earlier in the spring. He finished the regular season as the third-leading scorer on the team with 11.3 points per game, with a spot on the All-NEC third team for the second consecutive year. A threat from three-point range, the Cromwell, Conn., native had a top three-point field goal percentage in the NEC at .405. He also ranked sixth in the conference in field-goal percentage at .514. Reilly scored 20 or more points in five games this season including a stretch of three in a row, leading SHU to three straight wins in conference play. He recently graduated with a Master of Business Administration with a 3.90 GPA.
