Stellar Day for Pioneers in Boston

Brogioli, Piccirelli and Adekunle pick up event wins

BOSTON, Mass. — Throughout the The TRACK at New Balance Collegiate Showdown, multiple members of the Sacred Heart women's track and field team grabbed event wins, personal bests and top rankings in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). 
 
Junior Magdalena Brogioli continued her successful junior campaign with an event win in the 60-meter dash and secured another top time in the MAAC after running a personal best time of 7.74. First-year Suzan Adekunle grabbed the second event win of the day in the weight throw after tossing a personal best of 16.79m which also secured her the No. 1 rank in the MAAC. Lauryn Piccirelli grabbed another event win for the Pioneers in the high jump. Piccirelli's leap of 1.70m also tops the MAAC. 
 
First-year Julia MacClaine and senior Olivia Suter would finish in the top five in the 400m coming in 4th and 5th respectively. Both would gain new personal bests as well, MacClaine ran a 1:01.06 and Suter finished right behind her in 1:01.51. In the 200m, Annalise Nassy would round the 200m track in 26.09 which was another personal best and the second fastest time of the day. While in a race that takes 15 laps on a 200m track, Grace Sousa would finish with a new personal best of 10:00.24, winning the 3k.

Coming up the Pioneers are back in action at the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight Open at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York, NY on Friday.
