Fairfield, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's soccer team cruised past Canisius 3-1 on Wednesday, October 1
st, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

How it Happened:
- The Pioneers came out firing, registering six shots within the first 15 minutes of play. Their early pressure paid off in the 16th minute when Emily Hood buried a shot off a setup from Lyndsey Laperle to put Sacred Heart ahead.
- Both teams continued to generate good chances throughout the half, but neither could break through again until the 44th minute, when Canisius capitalized just before halftime to even the score at 1-1.
- It didn't take long for the Pios to reclaim the lead in the second half. Off a ball originating from a free kick in the 47th minute, Rylee McGee scored her first goal of the season.
- Sacred Heart kept the pressure on, and in the 72nd minute, Morgan Bovardi did what she does best and added insurance.
- Kyran Thievon and the defense held the score where it was for the rest of the game.
