Fairfield, Conn – The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team fell to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 4-0 in the home opener on Saturday, October 4
th.

How it Happened:
	- The first period was a steady back-and-forth battle, where each team created opportunities, but neither was able to find the back of the net. Mia Wendell's great goaltending in the opening frame held the game scoreless.
 
	- In the second period, the momentum shifted as RPI struck three times to take control of the game. Despite several quality chances, the Pioneers couldn't find the back of the net.
 
	- Trailing by three heading into the third period, Sacred Heart pushed to mount a comeback but couldn't break through the Engineers' defense. An additional RPI goal sealed the result, as the Pioneers fell 4–0.

	- RPI won the faceoff battle 23-18
 
	- The Pioneers blocked a total of 18 shots
