REACHING 100
On Saturday, senior forward Reid Pabich played his 100th career game. The Verona, Wis., native played 52 games with Maine and has appeared in 48 games with the Pioneers. In those 100 contests, he has tallied 44 points on 17 goals and 27 assists. Pabich's teammate at both Maine and here at SHU, Felix Trudeau, is one game shy of the century mark with 99 appearances before this weekend.

BREAKOUT GAME
First year forward Gavin Bryant had a breakout performance in the second game against Air Force this past weekend, tallying his first collegiate goal and an assist. The Ingersoll, Ontario, native sparked the Pios' offense 11:58 into the first period by scoring on a one-on-one breakaway. He also assisted on Ethan Wolthers' goal, his first tally as a Pioneer, to give SHU back the lead in the third period. Friday and Saturday marked Bryant's second and third appearances this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Pioneers suffered a pair of defeats at the hands of Air Force this past weekend. The Falcons took the first game 4-1, while the second game was much closer. SHU led the second game after Bryant's first career goal at 11:58 in the first and again after Wolthers' goal at 1:44 in the third period. Unfortunately for the Pios, the Falcons were ready with an answer both times, as the game sat deadlocked at 2-2 for much of the final frame. Air Force clinched the sweep with 2:47 remaining in the contest, capitalizing on an odd-man rush to break the tie with a 3-2 win.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
Canisius owns a 5-4-1 overall record heading into Friday's opener. In AHA play, the Golden Griffins are 1-2-1, losing twice at Bentley and owning a win and a tie against Army. Canisius got off to a great start to the season, winning five of their first six games, with victories over No. 20 Clarkson, St. Lawrence, LIU, Colgate and Army. The Griffs have been strong at home, owning a 3-1-1 record. The team's struggles have been mostly on the road, as Canisius is 2-3-0 away from Buffalo, N.Y. The Golden Griffins have been outstanding on the power play to start the season, ranking third in the conference with a 76.9% success rate on the extra-man. However, the special-teams success has not turned into overall scoring, as the team is eighth in the league with 2.40 goals per game. Junior forward Walter Zacher has been the team's best offensive weapon to start the year with his AHA-leading six goals and 0.60 goals per game. Senior forward Grant Porter assisted on four of Zacher's six goals, as he heads into the weekend with an AHA-best seven assists. Former Pioneer Chase Clark has played all but one game for the Griffs, owning a 5-3-1 record with a 2.32 goals against average and a 0.926 save percentage.

ALL-TIME SERIES
SHU will meet Canisius for a 74th time on Friday, with the Golden Griffins owning a 34-29-10 advantage in the all-time series. Since 2003-04, the Pios' first season in the AHA, SHU is 24-20-10 against Canisius. SHU also has the advantage in games played in the Nutmeg State in the series, as they are 19-13-7 at home.

UP NEXT
The Pioneers will take a break from league play for a single bout against LIU on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 5 p.m. at the Martire Family Arena.
