Fairfield, Conn. – Following her first collegiate double figure outing last Thursday in the road win over Central Connecticut, first-year guard Sophie Nascimento picked up the second Air Force Reserve MAAC Rookie of the Week accoladed doled out by the league this season.

Nascimento, who came off the bench and started the second half, finished the CCSU game with 15 points, 12 of which came in the second half, as she was 4-of-8 from the field, with a three pointer, and 6-of-6 at the free throw line. In addition, she added two assists and a steal. 

For the season, Nascimento is one of three players tied for second on the team in scoring with an average of 7.0 points per game, shooting .375 on the season (6-of-16) and remains perfect at the free throw line going 8-of-8.

Nascimento and the Pioneers return to action with a pair of road games this week as they wrap up a four-game road trip with stops in the nation's capital to take on Georgetown Tuesday night and in the Bay State to face Northeastern on Saturday.
