How it Happened:
  • Right from the opening puck drop, the Eagles came out firing. Less than a minute into the game, they found the back of the net to take an early lead. The Pioneers were tested shortly after, going down two skaters on a 5-on-3 penalty kill. Despite the pressure, the defense held strong and successfully killed off both penalties to keep it a one-goal game. Olivia LaRoche nearly evened the score with a shot that rang off the pipe, but momentum swung back to Post as the Eagles added another goal late in the first period to double their lead.
  • To open the second period, Larson stepped in for her first game action of the season. After being outshot in the first, the Pioneers came out with clear intentions to be more aggressive. They controlled possession, generated consistent pressure, and outshot the Eagles 27–7 in the period. Despite several quality looks and a handful of power play opportunities, Sacred Heart couldn't break through. With just under two minutes remaining, Post capitalized on a power play to extend its lead to 3–0 heading into the final period.
  • The third period was similar to the second, where the Pioneers came out aggressively, hoping to mount a third-period comeback. They outshot the Eagles 20-9. After several chances, Sacred Heart couldn't break through, and the final score stood at 3-0.

Of Note:
  • The Pioneers had 59 shots compared to the Eagles' 45
  • The Pioneers lost the faceoff battle 36-24
