How it Happened:
- The first period was a sloppy one for the Pioneers. They were tested early after taking a too many players on the ice penalty, but the defense held strong, and Petruno made several key saves to keep the game scoreless. Later in the period, they found themselves in the same situation again, facing another penalty. Once again, the defense stood tall, and the teams headed into the second period tied 0–0.
- Period two is where the action picked up. The Sharks struck first five minutes into the frame, but just four minutes later, Pascucci answered right back with her first career goal. Later in the period, Koman blasted a missile from the blue line to give the Pioneers the lead. Both defenses tightened up for the remainder of the period, and Sacred Heart headed into the third with a 2–1 lead.
- The third period was all Sacred Heart. The Pioneers took complete control, scoring three unanswered goals. Limke started the surge with a finish off a beautiful pass from Alyssa Antonakis. Addie Bowlby followed with a goal to extend the lead, and finally, Sami Bowlby capped off the scoring on a feed from her sister.
Of Note:
- The Pioneers scored two power-play goals
- LIU won the faceoff battle 28-21
- Limke scored her 10th career goal
- Antonakis tallied her fourth and fifth assist on the season
