FAIRFIELD, Conn—The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team had its win streak snapped, falling to Quinnipiac 99-90 on Friday evening in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action in the Pitt Center.
Amiri Stewart led five Pioneers in double figures.

After some hot three-point shooting 52.9% (9-17) in the first half, SHU lost its gas in the second, going 3-14 from behind the arc. Quinnipiac outscored Sacred Heart 54-39 in the second frame to come from behind and take the win, snapping the Pios five-game win streak.
Down by two at 14:01 in the opening half, a
Mekhi Conner triple sparked a 10-0 run as the Pioneers came from behind and took a 23-15 lead. A pair of free throws and a
Tanner Thomas layup put SHU ahead 29-19 midway through the first frame.
A trio of free throws for Quinnipiac pulled the Bobcats within six, but a 14-4 run for SHU gave the Pioneers their largest lead of the night with a 48-34 edge. In the final 1:30 of the half, the Bobcats went on a 7-2 run to pull within six, as Sacred Heart held a 51-45 lead at the break.
In the second half, Sacred Heart never led by more than nine. Through the opening four minutes of play in the half, Quinnipiac pulled within four, but the Pioneers were able to hold them off a little while longer.
A triple for Quinnipiac at 11:49 tied things up at 72-72. An
Amiri Stewart free throw and an
Anquan Hill layup put SHU ahead by three, but the Bobcats hit a triple, sparking a 14-0 run to come from behind and take a double-digit lead, 88-77, with 4:28 left to play.
Quinnipiac was able to extend their lead to 14 with 1:14 left to play. A three-pointer for Stewart cut the deficit to nine for the 99-90 final.
Sacred Heart shot 44.1 % (30-68) from the field and 38.7% from three-point range. Quinnipiac takes the season series, 2-0.
