FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In her first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse standout Madelyn Breitbeil was named First Team All-MAAC on Thursday afternoon as announced by the league office.

Breitbeil appeared and started in all 15 games, leading the team with 37 caused turnovers and 49 ground balls. Her defensive prowess didn't just stand out on her team—it made waves nationally. She ranks eighth in NCAA Division I in ground balls per game (3.27) and 10th in caused turnovers per game (2.47), solidifying her reputation as one of the nation's top defenders.

Breitbeil displayed remarkable consistency and intensity throughout the season, recording 10 games with two or more caused turnovers, including a season-high five CTs in matchups against Bryant, Boston University, and Siena. She also posted eight games with three or more ground balls, demonstrating her relentless effort and field awareness.

Her efforts were also instrumental in anchoring a Pioneers' defense that ranks 15th nationally in caused turnovers per game (10.33) and 12th in scoring defense (9.27 goals allowed per game). She was also named MAAC Defender of the Week back on April 7th.

In addition to Breitbeil's honor, Maggie Barr, Maci Black, Sarah Blandi, Aidan Carlson, Leah Durkin, Ellie Edwards, Taylor Farace, Claire Ferguson, Brooke Gyllenhaal, Erin Herrold, Shae Insinga, Ryann Kearns, Melina Lange, Isabella Leese, Jenna Lively, Margaret Morgan, Sydney Saba, Sadie Stevens, and Jamie Tanner were part of the 220 student-athletes named to the 2025 MAAC Women's Lacorsse All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
