Equestrian Qualifies for IHSA National Championship

Hwalek earns spot in Open Flat and Cacchione Cup
REEDSVILLE, W. Va. - The Sacred Heart equestrian team has qualified for the IHSA National Championship. The Pioneers finished second to earn reserve champion honors at the Zone 2 championship over the weekend at the Ruby Research Farm in West Virginia.
Individually, Kylie Hwalek qualified for the Open Flat and Cacchione Cup at nationals.
At Zones, the top two individuals per class and top two teams qualify to move on to Nationals.
The IHSA National Championship is set for May 2-4 at Tryon International in North Carolina.
Zone 2 Championship results:
Open Fences: Kylie Hwalek - 1st place
Open Flat: Kylie Hwalek - 2nd Place
Intermediate Fences: Kayla DeStephanis - 5th place
Intermediate Flat: Erin Phillips 2nd Place
Limit Fences: Sophia Poling - 3rd Place
Limit Flat: Isabella Ruisi - 3rd Place
Novice: Kaylee Shindel - 4th Place
Introductory: Megan Majkut - 1st Place
