EDISON, N.J. – Mitch Hawkins from the Sacred Heart University baseball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday afternoon.
The award is given for his stellar performance on the mound in this weekend's series win over Quinnipiac. The junior right-handed pitcher came in relief in game one and three of the series, tossing 6.2 innings while striking out four batters. The Southbury, Conn., native allowed just two walks and held the Bobcats to a .097 batting average.
The Pioneers concluded their regular season and will head to Clover Stadium in Pamona, N.Y., for the MAAC Championship on Wednesday, May 21, to face the lowest remaining seed at 11 a.m.
