How it Happened:
  • Both teams came out firing, as there were a combined six shots in the first 10 minutes of the game. It felt like each team was one step away from breaking the ice, until Morgan Bovardi finally found the back of the net in the 23rd minute off a Rylee McGee assist.
  • Later on in the 35th minute, Shea Kelleher joined in on the action to double the Pioneer lead. The goal was once again assisted by McGee.
  • Bovardi put the icing on the cake in the first half as she found the back of the net for her second goal of the game, which increased the lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute.
  • Although the Pios were scoring all the goals, Kyran Thievon still had plenty of work to do. Her four saves kept the Broncs scoreless heading into halftime.
  • Casey Mulligan took over in net to start the second half, and the momentum stayed with the Pioneers.
  • In the 50th minute, Kelleher tallied her second goal of the night, stretching the lead to 4-0.
  • That score held the rest of the way, sealing an outstanding performance by the Pioneers.
