FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey head coach C.J. Marottolo debuted the team's 2025-26 leadership group on Tuesday afternoon. Seniors Mikey Adamson and Reid Pabich will don the "C" as co-captains, while fellow seniors John Driscoll and Marcus Joughin will sport the "A" this winter as alternate captains.

"We are excited to announce Mikey Adamson and Reid Pabich as co-captains and John Driscoll and Marcus Joughin as assistant captains for our upcoming season," said coach Marottolo. "These young men have earned the respect of their teammates and coaches and will certainly represent what we stand for both on and off the ice. They have earned this honor through their work ethic, character and commitment to the team. Our team is in great hands with this leadership group and they ready for the challenges that lie ahead."

Adamson enters the season as the lone repeating captain from 2024-25, as he was elevated from an "A" to a "C". The Quincy, Mass., native set the school record for defensemen last year with 12 goals, ranking fourth on the team with 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists. Adamson was a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award after leading the team with four game-winning goals.

Pabich was named a co-captain in his second season with the Pioneers, ranking third on the team with career-highs of 13 goals, 15 assists and 28 points. The Verona, Wis., native finished tied for second on the team with three game-winning goals. He recorded a point in three of SHU's five Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Tournament games, including tying a career-high with two points in SHU's series-ending win over Air Force in the quarterfinals.

Driscoll joins Adamson as a backline captain, wearing the "A" in his second season with SHU. The 6-4 blueliner from Littleton, Colo., played all 39 games in 2024-25, tallying two goals and eight assists for 10 points, while also tallying the second-most blocks on the team with 55. He tallied an assist in all but one of the Pios' playoff games, tallying an assist in four straight contests.

The final captain named today is Joughin, who will serve as an alternate captain. The product of Windsor, Ontario, has appeared in 34 or more games in all three of his seasons with Sacred Heart. He finished last year with a career-best 18 assists, which was second on the team, to go along with three goals for 21 points.

The Pioneers kick off the 2025-26 season on Friday, Oct. 10, at RIT. The opening game of the series is slated to start at 7:05 p.m. at the Gene Polisseni Center in Rochester, N.Y.
