FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced its 2026 Preseason All-MAAC Team on Friday, with Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse standout Madelyn Breitbeil earning preseason recognition from the league's coaches.

Breitbeil displayed remarkable consistency and intensity for SHU in 2025, recording 11 games with two or more caused turnovers, including a season-high five caused turnovers in contests against Bryant, Boston University, and Siena. She also posted nine games with three or more ground balls, showcasing her relentless effort and field awareness.

Her impact was instrumental in anchoring a Pioneers defense that ranked 15th nationally in caused turnovers per game (10.33) and 12th in scoring defense (9.27 goals allowed per game). Breitbeil earned First Team All-MAAC honors and was named MAAC Defender of the Week on April 7.

Sacred Heart opens the 2026 season on the road at Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 12 p.m.
