Burch, Cantu Named Second Team All-MAAC

The honor is a first for both golfers
EDISON, N.J. — After leading the Pioneers in average all season, Sacred Heart University women's golfers Jessie Burch and Maite Cantu were named Second Team All-Conference by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Monday morning. Today's honors mark the first All-Conference nod for both golfers.
Burch has led the way for SHU all season, owning a 77.7 adjusted average during her senior campaign. The Dublin, Calif., native was named the MAAC Golfer of the Week on March 25 and has tallied two top-five showings over the season. She took fourth at the SHU Spring Break Invite and fifth at the Battle at the Creek, leading the team in a SHU victory at the Spring Break Invite.
Cantu finished right behind Burch with an adjusted average of 78.1. The sophomore from Mexico City, Mexico, also had two top-five finishes, including an impressive second-place showing at the SHU Fall Classic to lead the Pioneers to a victory as a team. She also took home fifth at the SHU Spring Break Invite.
The Pioneers kick off the three-day MAAC Championship tomorrow morning at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla.
