
Women’s Golf Closes Out Season in Fourth at MAAC Championship

All five SHU golfers placed in the top 21 of the event
BAY LAKE, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team closed out the 2025-26 campaign with a fourth-place finish at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, hosted at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla.
The Pioneers had the second-best round of the day on Thursday, a 295 (+7), climbing to fourth on the leaderboard. SHU got better each round, going 310, 302 and 295 to finish with a final score of 907 (+43). Quinnipiac won the championship for a second straight season with a final score of +21, three strokes ahead of second-place Fairfield.
Maite Cantu had SHU's best round of the tournament, a final-round 71 (-1). With the late surge, the sophomore climbed to T12th on the leaderboard to pace the team with a score of 226 (+10).
Nahia Paulerena capped her strong tournament in a tie for 16th place. The sophomore recorded rounds of 76 (+4) all three days for a final score of 228 (+12).
Maegan Pungsuwan and Jessie Burch remained tied for the second straight round after identical scores of 76 (+4) today. The duo owned final scores of 229 (+13).
Garance Gueubel carded the Pios' second-best round of the event with an even-par 72 in round three. The first year finished her first conference championship in a tie for 21st place with a score of 230 (+14).
