The pair have led SHU in adjusted average this season
EDISON, N.J. — Heading into the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship tomorrow, Sacred Heart University senior men's golfers Mike Rothberg and Pablo Lacayo were named First Team All-MAAC, the league announced on Monday morning.
The honor is the second for both golfers as the duo was also named First Team All-Conference in SHU's first season in the league.
Rothberg heads into the MAAC Championship as the team leader with an adjusted average of 73.1 over 31 total rounds. The senior from Fairfield tallied two top-three finishes and four top-10 showings in his final collegiate campaign. The highlight of his year came when he finished second out of 60 golfers at the Wykagyl Collegiate, hosted by Iona in October.
Lacayo was not far behind his classmate with a 73.5 adjusted average in 25 rounds. He finished in the top 11 in six of nine events, which included all four spring tournaments. The Managua, Nicaragua, native finished third at both the SHU Spring Break Invite and the SHU Fall Classic to pace the team.
Both players will help the Pios pursue their first MAAC Championship, beginning on Tuesday, April 28, at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla.
