Hwalek and Ruisi represent the Pioneers at Tryon International with top national finishes
MILL SPRING, N.C. - Sacred Heart University's equestrian team wrapped up its 2025-26 campaign on the national stage as two student-athletes competed at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship held at Tryon International.
Of Note:
Representing the Pioneers against the nation's top collegiate riders, Kylie Hwalek and Isabella Ruisi each turned in standout performances to cap off impressive seasons.
Hwalek competed in the highly competitive Open Fences division, earning a sixth-place finish against an elite field of riders from across the country. Qualifying for nationals in the Open division marks one of the highest accomplishments in collegiate equestrian competition, highlighting Hwalek's consistency and success throughout the season.
Ruisi delivered one of Sacred Heart's top finishes of the weekend, earning Reserve Champion honors with a second-place finish in Limit Fences. Her performance secured a podium finish at the national championship and added another milestone to the Pioneers' season.
