Thibault Drives in Three Runs in Baseball's 9-1 Win Over Rhode Island

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team defeated Rhode Island, 9-1 Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 13-22 on the year, while the Rams fall to 17-19.

Matt Aufiero earned his first win of the year after giving up no earned runs and striking out two in five innings of work. Steven Thibault led the SHU offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI's. Noah Centeno, Alex Perry and Elijah Brown drove in a run apiece in the win.

  • Thibault pushed the lead to 7-1 with a two-run single to right in the sixth

  • The Pioneers were able to plate two runs in the seventh and held on for the 9-1 win
