Melanie Sanchez joined the Pioneers in August 2025 as a graduate assistant for student-athlete support services where she works directly with the cheer, dance, men’s and women’s golf and women’s bowling teams.
Sanchez is no stranger to Pioneer athletics having spent her undergraduate career as a member of the SHU swimming and diving team where as a senior she served as a team-captain and was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.
During her time in the pool, Sanchez set a school record in the 100 butterfly and remains among the top five all-time in three events; second in the 100 butterfly (56.52), third in the 200 butterfly (2:04.38) and third in the 400 individual medley (4:33.22). Additionally, Sanchez is a member of the 400 individual medley relay team that currently holds the pool record at the McCann Natatorium.
Currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration, Sanchez earned a Bachelor of Science in health science with a concentration in healthcare administration and a minor in global business management from Sacred Heart in May 2025.
