
MEN'S ICE HOCKEY DOWNS ARMY IN HOME OPENER, 3-1

MILFORD, CT (November 8, 2002) - The Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team defeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent Army, 3-1, for their first win of the season. The Pioneers came from behind to take the win over Army.
The scoring was opened in the first period by Army on a goal from Nic Serre at the 7:55 mark to give Army the lead into the second period. Sacred Heart answered with a goal from sophomore Garrett Larson (Rycroft, AB) at 14:26 in the second, assisted by seniors Martin Paquet (St. Catherine, QUE) and Les Hrapchak (Wakaw, SK).
The third period started with a tied score, but was quickly a Sacred Heart advantage as junior Mike Reagan (Flin Flon, MB) scored a short-handed goal from Paquet just 51 seconds into the third. Paquet rounded out the scoring with a power play goal from freshman Rocco Molinaro (Dearborn, MI) with just over two minutes remaining in the game.
Senior goaltender Eddy Ferhi (Charenton, France) earned the win, making 22 saves. Freshman Brad Roberts made 20 saves.
The Pioneers return to action Tuesday, November 12th, as they travel to Bentley College for a MAAC match-up at 7:30 pm.
