Sacred Heart opens the Northeast Conference portion of their schedule Saturday afternoon as they play host to the Wagner College Seahawks. The Pioneers are winners of their last three-straight and coming off a 69-61 win at Princeton a week ago. Sacred Heart placed four players in double figures for the second straight time as they gutted out a hard fought win in a game that saw 50 combined fouls and four players foul out. In their three wins, the Pioneers are averaging 71.0 points while shooting 46.5% (73-157) from the field. Senior Brooke Rutnik has been a major force of late averaging 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.3 blocks in her last three games. With her 13 point performance in the Princeton win, fellow senior Brooke Kelly has found her way into double figures in 12-consecutive games dating back to last season. Junior Kate Maher has given the Pioneers some very solid play off the bench this season, averaging 8.0 points and 6.0 boards per game, while senior Ashley Durmer is shooting 41.7% from behind the 3-point arc, knocking down a team-high 10 treys. Wagner is 1-3 on the year and coming off their first win of the season, 85-65 at Binghamton last Saturday. The Seahawks have four players averaging double figures this season led by senior Toni Roker's 17.8 points-per-game.
