Women’s Basketball Announces 31 Game Slate for 2026-27

FULL 2026-27 SCHEDULE
Fairfield, Conn. – Highlighted by 14 games at the friendly confines of the William H. Pitt Center, the Sacred Heart University women's basketball team will play a 31-game schedule in 2026-27. Among the 31 games are 20 that full under the newly renamed Metro Conference, all culminating with the 2027 Metro Conference Championship which is slated once again to take place at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. March 4-8.
The Pioneers will open up their 2026-27 schedule on the road as they head to upstate New York to take on the Syracuse Orange on Wednesday, November 3. Following the season opener, SHU returns home to open up its home schedule with back-to-back appearances in Fairfield hosting Mercy (Nov. 6) and Northeastern (Nov. 11).
The next four games for the Pios will come on the road, the longest road stretch of the season, beginning with another visit to the Empire State, this time heading to Long Island to face the Stony Brook Seawolves (Nov. 15). Sacred Heart will then head to Michigan for a two-game swing that includes stops at Michigan State (Nov. 19) and Detroit Mercy (Nov. 21) before returning to its home state to take on a new Division I opponent in New Haven (Nov. 24).
The month of November will come to a close at The Pitt Center with a visit from Holy Cross (Nov. 30), while Central Connecticut will open up the second month of the season on December 3, also at The Pitt. The non-conference schedule will come to a close with back-to-back road games, the first heading to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers on December 6, while closing out the non-league action at NJIT on December 13.
The 20-game Metro Conference schedule will open with a pair of home games at Marist and Saint Peter's tip things off on December 19 and 21, the final games of the calendar year. In total, the Pios will play eight conference opponents in a home and home series, while the remaining four are split with Niagara (Jan. 1) and Quinnipiac (Jan. 18), while Rider (Jan. 28) and Merrimack (Feb. 25) will visit The Pitt Center.
In addition to opening up league play with back-to-back home games, the Pios will also have two additional two-game home stretches in conference play with Manhattan and Mount visiting on February 6 and 13, respectively, while Merrimack (Feb. 25) and Fairfield (Feb. 27) will close out the regular season at The Pitt.
Following the regular season finale against the crosstown rival Stags, the top 10 teams in the Metro Conference standings will advance to the league championship, marking the third-straight year that the tournament features a 10-team bracket. The championship will begin with a pair of First Round games on Thursday, March 4. Quarterfinals will be split with two each on Friday, March 5 and Saturday March 6, while the semifinals are slated for Sunday, March 7. The 2027 Metro Conference Championship will take place on Monday, March 8 with all games once again take place at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, marking the eighth consecutive year the champion will be crowned in Atlantic City.
