Sacred Heart will take on the Princeton University Tigers Saturday evening in the first ever meeting between the two schools. After dropping their season opener, 74-48, the Pioneers have rebounded to win their last two outings, highlighted by a 69-63 win over Albany in their home opener last Sunday. The senior trio of Brooke Kelly, Brooke Rutnik and Ashley Durmer each put together solid outings, combining for 39 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and five steals to pace SHU to the victory. Durmer led all Pioneer scorers with 15 points on the afternoon, while Rutnik, who was limited to just five minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, stormed back in the second half scoring 12 points and grabbing six boards. Kelly, who now has 1,020 career points, finished with 12 points of her own and enters tonight's contest just 11 points shy of moving into eighth place on the school's all-time scoring list (Leslie Newhard, 1,030). Freshman Nicolle Rubino has made quite the splash to start her collegiate career. The Port Jefferson Station, NY native is averaging 11.3 points and 2.7 steals off the bench for Sacred Heart this season. The Pioneers will open the 2002-03 Northeast Conference portion of their season next Saturday, December 14th as they host the Wagner Seahawks at 2:00 pm. Princeton enters tonight's contest with a 3-3 overall record and coming off a 97-69 win over Centenary on Wednesday.
