The Storyline... The Sacred Heart women's basketball team hosts Lafayette College tonight as they look for their second win of 2003-04. The Pioneers are coming off a big opening night win over UMass last Friday, 61-46, which marked the first time SHU has beaten a team from the Atlantic-10 Conference. A victory tonight will give the Pioneers their first 2-0 start since the 1996-97 season and send them to this weekend's Maryland Terrapin Tournament on a high note. Sophomore Nicolle Rubino and freshman Amanda Pape helped fuel the UMass win with 14 and 12 points each. Sacred Heart played a tenacious style of defense all game forcing 25 turnovers and holding the Minutewomen to just 36.7 % (18-49) shooting on the night. The Pioneers will be looking to avoid a letdown as they face a Lafayette team coming off a season-opening loss at the hands of the Georgetown Hoyas. The Leopards are led by senior forward Colleen Fitzpatrick, who was an All-Patriot League second team selection a year ago.
