Freshman Amanda Pape Named Sacred Heart Athlete-of-the-Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (December 1, 2003) - Freshman Amanda Pape (Stamford, CT) was named the Sacred Heart University Athlete of the Week for the week of November 24th through November 30th.
The Stamford, CT native earns the honor after leading the women's basketball team to two wins last week. Pape averaged 18.0 points over a three game stretch last week including a 23 and 24-point performance. She led the Pioneers with 23 points in a win against Lafayette on Tuesday, marking the highest point total for a freshman in the Division I era (1999- present). She topped that with a 24-point outing in the consolation game of the Maryland Terrapin tournament to lead SHU to a 75-60 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. For her efforts she was named to the Terrapin Classic All-Tournament Team. She shot 60.0% from the field on the week and also averaged 4.7 boards and 3.0 steals. She currently leads the team in scoring (16.5) and steals (12).
Pape and the rest of the Pioneers are next in action this Wednesday, December 3rd when they host Yale at 7 pm.
