The Storyline... The Pioneers open the Northeast Conference portion of their schedule this afternoon with a trip to Staten Island, NY to face the Wagner College Seahawks. The Spiro Center hasn't been kind to SHU over the year's, with the Pioneers going 1-3 at the facility since joining the NEC in 1999-00. SHU will look to turn that around today with a win that would give them the best start in the program's history at 6-1. Sacred Heart pounded Princeton last time out, 71-47, to earn their third-straight win. Sophomore Nicolle Rubino snapped out of her shooting slump to post a career-high 23 points to lead the Pioneers to the win. Amanda Pape comes in off her second-straight NEC Rookie of the Week award. The freshman leads the team in scoring with 16.7 points per game and is the conference leader in steals with 21 (3.5 spg). Wagner is coming off a 67-59 loss at Marquette on Monday that snapped a two-game winning streak for the Seahawks. Senior Carrie Walker was named NEC Player of the Week for her efforts in wins over Iona and Lafayette.
