Senior Michele Walker Named Sacred Heart Athlete-of-the-Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (March 24, 2003) - Senior Michele Walker (Paramus, NJ) was named the Sacred Heart University Athlete of the Week for the week of March 17th through 23rd.
The Paramus, NJ native finished 2-1 on the mound at last week's University of Maryland-Baltimore County Spring Softball Classic. She posted two wins over the host Retrievers, 3-2 and 6-5. Her only loss in the tournament was in extra innings to Canisius, 3-2. For her efforts, Walker was named the Outstanding Pitcher of the tournament. Along with her success on the mound, she finished four-of-11 at the plate (.364) with two doubles, three walks and seven RBI. She helped her own cause by driving in two of the three runs in her 3-2 win over UMBC. As a team, the Pioneers finished in third out of six squads in the event, improving to 5-10 this season.
Walker and the rest of the Pioneers return to the diamond this Tuesday, March 25th when the travel to Stony Brook University at 2 pm.
