
Softball Squad Loses in Extra Innings to Albany

ORLANDO, FL - Junior Andrea Lindgren had two hits and went the distance on the mound to lead the Albany Great Danes to a 6-4, nine-inning, win over Sacred Heart at the Rebel Games in Orlando on Wednesday.
Albany scored a run in the top of the first, but the Pioneers took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second. Senior pitcher Michele Walker led off with a single and wound up on third on consecutive walks to Melissa McManaman and Leslie Konsig. Freshman Jen Place followed with a single that scored Walker. McManaman and Konsig both scored on wild pitches.
Albany got a run back in the third inning. They tied it at 3-3 in the fifth. Freshman Ali Meacham hit a one-out triple to left and scored on a wild pitch by Walker.
Albany took a 4-3 lead in the eighth on an RBI single by Katrina Dunning. The Pioneers sent it to the ninth when Konsig scored Katie Bowen with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.
The Great Danes, now 5-1, scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to win it, on an RBI single by Maegen Larsen and an RBI double by Ashley Rios.
Walker took the loss for the Pioneers, after relieving starter Lauren Lapinski in the fifth inning. Lingren improved her record to 2-1 with the win, striking out nine.
