ORLANDO, FL - Shortstop Nichole Taucher drove home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh with a bloop single to lead the University of Detroit-Mercy to a 7-6 win over Sacred Heart in the Rebel Games in Orlando on Friday afternoon.
The Pioneers, now 1-6, took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the fifth. Designated player Kristin Martin hits a bases-clearing triple with two outs in the fifth to give the Titans a 6-4 lead.
Sacred Heart tied it in the top of the sixth on a two-run single by center fielder Tiffanie Cross-Monzo.
Michele Walker, who came on in relief to work out of a jam in the sixth inning, got the first hitter in the seventh but then walked catcher Katrina Klemp. Martin followed with a single to left to put runners on first and second. Walker got the next batter to pop out to catcher Katie Ross, but Taucher then hit a soft blooper to center to score Klemp and give the Titans the win.
