FAIRFIELD, CT - Sacred Heart University softball coach Elizabeth "Bippy" Luckie announced today that her team has signed Bethany Lemenager of New Bedford, MA to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Pioneers next season.
Lemenager is in her senior season as a pitcher for Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, MA. In her first two years of varsity play, Lemanger compiled a 30-19 record, including 16 shutouts and and 0.50 ERA. She also pitched a perfect game in the Massachusetts State Tournament. She has 419 strikeouts in 343 innings of work and just 24 walks. During that time opponents have batted just .166 against her.
She is a two-time selection as an Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star, the New Bedford Standard-Times Super Team, and the Fall River Herald All-Scholastic Team. She was also named to the Boston Herald All-Scholastic team her junior year.
"She possesses all three elements you look for in a premier pitcher - speed, movement and control," said Pioneer associate head coach Pam London, who spearheaded the recruitment of Lemenager. "I think Sacred Heart is a perfect match for Bethany and she will flourish here as both a student and an athlete."
