Softball Team Names 2003-04 Captains

FAIRFIELD, CT - Head coach Elizabeth Luckie announced today that seniors Katie Ross and Leslie Konsig will be the 2003-04 captains for the Sacred Heart University softball team. The two have been key members of the team over the last three seasons and appeared in every game in 2003.
Ross, from Arden Hill, MN, is one of the top defensive catchers in the Northeast Conference with a rifle for an arm. She threw out an impressive 40 percent of the runners attempting to steal on her last season. Ross hit .220 at the plate last season and led the team in sacrifice bunts.
Konsig, from Millburn, NJ, is an excellent defensive first baseman. She made just four errors in 341 chances last season - an impressive .988 fielding percentage. She had the second highest batting average on the team at .278 and led the team in RBI and runs scored.
"Katie and Leslie were easy choices as co-captains," said Luckie. "They lead by example and will be a positive influence on the younger players on the team."
