MILFORD, CT - Freshman Gina Arnone (Bridgewater, NJ) scored a pair of goals 29 seconds apart in the first period and assisted on another in the second to lead the Sacred Heart University women's hockey team to a 5-0 win over visiting Southern Maine on Friday night.
Sacred Heart, now 8-8-3, outshot the Huskies 13-1 in the first period and got on the board at 11:51 on a power play goal by Arnone from freshman Kristina Feltz (Edison, NJ). She lit the lamp again at 12:20 with and assist from sophomore Katelin McLaughlin (Hingham, MA).
The Pioneers scored two more power play goals in the second period. Senior defenseman Jane Auxier (Palm Beach, FL) notched her second goal of the year at 2:54 of the period from Arnone. Senior Jessica Felt (Killingworth, CT) scored her third at 16:24 from her roommate, senior defenseman Nicole Farrelly (Windsor, CT).
Arnone completed her first career hat trick with an unassisted power play goal at 15:09 of the third period. The Pioneers finished four of seven with the extra skater.
Junior goalie Stephanie Boulay (Anchorage, AK) completed her first shutout of the season with 13 saves. The win was the fourth straight for Sacred Heart.
