
SHU Volleyball Handed 3-0 Defeat at Saint Peter's

Jersey City, NJ - The Sacred Heart women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Saint Peter's Peahens Wednesday evening at the Yanitelli Center. The Peahens defeated the Pioneers in three straight matches 30-25, 30-25 and 30-28. The Peahens recorded their second consecutive victory against the Pioneers. Their first win coming early in September at the Lafayette Invitational.
Senior Serra Soylu led the offensive surge for Saint peter's with 21 kills, hitting .474 with three aces, two solo blocks and 10 block assists. Senior Michal Hausfater spread the ball with 31 assists and four kills of her own. Sophomore Caroline Garvey supplied the defense for the Peahens with 13 digs.
The Pioneers offense was led by Justina Bell with nine kills and 10 digs. Christine Duffy also supported the offense with eight kills and a service ace. Katie Thomas provided the defense for Sacred Heart with 12 digs.
SHU is back in action next weekend hosting St. Francis and Robert Morris in Northeast Conference play.
