Pioneer Field Hockey Tops Robert Morris, 6-1, to Split Pennsylvania Trip

Moon Township, PA - Sophomore Carisa Eye (Nesconset, NY) score four goals and senior Colleen Carney (Yorktown Heights, NY) added a goal and two assists as Sacred Heart rolled past Robert Morris, 6-1, in field hockey action Sunday at Walton Stadium.

Sacred Heart opened the scoring 5:23 into the second-half when Eye scored off of a penalty corner. Carney and senior Sarah Yeaton (Hampton, NH) were credited with the assists. Sophomore forward Sarah Schrott answered back for the Colonials 2:00 later to tie the game. Junior forward Gwen Dalphon and junior defender Andrea Tasker both tallied assists on the goal.

After Carney gave Sacred Heart the lead back for good, at the 43:17 mark, Eye scored three goals in 2:19 to give her four goals on the day, making the score 5-1. Yeaton and Carney each picked up an assist on the natural hat trick and sophomore Melissa Mazin (Putnam Valley, NY) provided the helper on the third goal.

Freshman Brittany Rosselle (Pawling, NY) tallied one last goal for the Pioneers with 13:45 remianing in the game. It the rookie's second goal of her career.

With four more goals, Eye expands her nation-leading total to 27 on the season. Carney's goal brought her in to double digits, as the senior now has found the back of the net 10 times.

Sophomore goaltender Whitney Mills (Harrisburg, PA) stopped 5-of-6 shots faced to earn the victory in her first career start in the cage for the Pioneers. For the game, the Pioneers held the advantage in shots (21-8) and penalty corners (11-4).

The Pioneers (11-3, 4-1 NEC) are back in action Sunday, October 15th when they host Fairfield in their final home game at Campus Field. A special senior day ceremony will take place before the game, which is slated to start at 12:00 noon.
