Pioneers Snap Losing Streak at St. Francis College, 3-0

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (November 4, 2006) - Junior Christine Duffy (Massapequa, NY) registered 13 kills and hit .423 (13-2-26) in the match to lead the Sacred Heart Pioneers to a 3-0 win over St. Francis College Saturday afternoon, snapping a 21-match losing skid. The Pioneers posted wins of 30-11, 30-17 and 30-23 to come away with the Northeast Conference win moving to 2-21 overall and 1-5 in the league. St. Francis (NY) is now 0-21 and 0-6.

Duffy's 13 kills came on 26 attempts against just two errors. She added four digs and a block and three block assists to here match totals. Senior Charnette Porter (Framingham, MA) had 10 kills in 15 attempts with just one error (.600) while coming up with two block assists.

Freshman Annie Archer (Littleon, CO) posted 11 kills and a .421 (11-3-19) hitting perenctage. Shed added a solo block and three block assists. Sophomores Katie Thomas (Wappingers Falls, NY) had 15 and Lynne Principio (Ardsley, NY) had 13 digs each.

SHU finished with a .377 hitting percentage as a team, 51 kills in 106 attempts with just 11 errors.

SFNY got eight kills from Jadelyn Castillo in the loss.
