VB Duo Named CSC Academic All-District

Fairfield, Conn. – A pair from the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team added two a long list of accolades when each were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Earning the distinction for the Pioneers was graduate middle blocker Cristina Montanez and junior outside hitter Lauren Hubert. The honor for Montanez marks her second-straight season earning the accolade.

The third leading hitter for SHU, Hubert closed out her first season with the Pioneers with 297 kills for an average of 2.56 per set. In addition, she added 35 service aces, second most on the team and contributed 305 digs, fourth most on the squad. Off the court, Hubert sports a 3.88 cumulative grade point average while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in finance.

A force in the middle for the Pioneers, Montanez led Sacred Heart with 89 combined blocks, including a career-high 10 on two occasions against Marist and Niagara. In addition to her defensive success, Montanez also chipped in 165 kills playing in three out of six rotations. Off the court, Montanez is pursuing a Master of Science in accounting and holds a perfect 4.00 grade point average in graduate school after closing out her undergraduate degree with a 3.77 cumulative GPA.

Hubert and Montanez helped lead the Pioneers to an 11-19 overall record, including a mark of 8-10 in the second season as a member of the MAAC.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 13, 2026.
