Vicky White To Receive Beard Excellence in Teaching Award

Fairfield, CT - Pioneer softball assistant coach Vicky White has been named a recipient of the 2006 Beard Excellence in Teaching Award. White is a second grade teacher at Waltersville Elementary School in Bridgeport. She will receive her award at a special ceremony on November 20th at the Playhouse Theater in Bridgeport.
In the winter of 2002, the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation announced the creation of the Theodore and Margaret Excellence in Teaching Award, a permanently endowed fund that recognizes public school teachers in Bridgeport. The awards represent the largest teaching awards for educators in Connecticut and rank among the largest in the nation. The cash awards given are equal to or greater than many of the financial awards being presented on a national level.
Each year, in the name of the Beards, the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation will reward excellent Bridgeport public school teachers who have worked to raise the level of academic achievement in their school.
Recipients are chosen for their professional excellence in and commitment to teaching as well as their ability to inspire learning in their students, community and colleagues.
