Fairleigh Dickinson took advantage of 12 Sacred Heart serving errors and ten receiving errors to take a 3-0 (30-20, 30-21 and 30-23) decision over the Pioneers in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.
Sacred Heart, 5-13 overall and 0-1 in the NEC, was led by freshman Mydori Saipale (Oxnard, CA) with 11 kills and eight digs. She struggled with her serve, however, recording five errors. Fellow freshman Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek (Santa Barbara, CA) had 20 assists, a pair of kills and three digs. Junior Sarah Joy (Huntington Station, NY) got the start at libero for the Pioneers and recorded 12 digs.
FDU, 9-10 and 1-0, was led by Lauren Boothby who was everywhere, finishing with 18 kills, 21 digs and three blocks while hitting an impressive .424. Megan Philbrick helped the Knights with 12 kills.
The Pioneers will be in action again tomorrrow at Wagner College.
