
Women's Volleyball Wins Second Straight Match

FAIRFIELD, CT - Freshman Mydori Saipale (Oxnard, CA) recorded her first collegiate double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs, while teammate Christine Duffy (Massapequa, NY) also had 11 kills to lead the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over visiting Quinnipiac University in a Northeast Conference match Saturday night.
The Pioneers improved to 7-13 overall and 2-1 in the NEC with the victory. SHU won the match with scores of 30-13, 30-12 and 30-23. The victory tied the school record for Division I victories with seven.
Sacred Heart committed seven attack errors in the first game, but just a total of five in the next two. In game three, the Pioneers chalked up 18 kills while making just two errors.
Sophomore Alex Bavasi (Flagstaff, AZ) also had a strong match for the Pioneers with eight kills and seven digs. Sophomore Annie Archer (Littleton, CO) had six kills and a match-high six blocks.
Jenna Benigno led the Bobcats with three kills and eight digs, while Michelle Vasapoli had four kills and four digs.
The Pioneers are back in action Sunday afternoon at home against St. Francis (NY).
