
Men's Basketball Makes it Three Straight Wins

W. LONG BRANCH, NJ - Freshman Chauncey Hardy (Middletown, CT) and junior Drew Shubik (Stoystown, PA) sparked a 16-0 run with a pair of three pointers each to lead the Sacred Heart men's basketball team to an 82-75 win over Monmouth University Friday night.
The win assured that the Pioneers, 15-13 overall and 11-6 in the Northeast Conference, will finish no worse than the .500 mark for the first time in school history.
SHU trailed 39-28 at the intermission, allowing Monmouth to shoot 56 percent in the first half. Freshman Jhamar Youngblood, who finished with a game-high 31 points, had 14 in the period.
A pair of free throws by Cory Hallett with 7:24 left in the game gave Monmouth a 65-53 lead. Then the Hawk roof caved in.
A bucket from Ryan Litke cut the lead to ten points then Hardy banged a three after a foul away from ball on that basket gave the Pioneers the ball back. After a Monmouth miss, Shubik hit a trey to cut the Hawk lead to 65-60 with 5:46 to play.
Hardy, who scored all 17 of his points in the second half, cut the Monmouth lead to two with a three with 4:35 to play. Shubik gave the Pioneers the lead with his second three with 3:53 left and Ryan Litke put the finishing touches on the run with a three with 3:27 left, giving his team a 69-65 lead.
Junior Brice Brooks had another solid game for the Pioneers, finishing with 17 point and nine boards. Litke finished with 12 and Shubik 11.
