
SHU Softball Visits Seton Hall Tuesday

Setting the Scene... The Pioneer softball team begins their doubleheader schedule with a twinbill Tuesday starting at 3:00 pm at Seton Hall. SHU went 4-10 through their tournament season at the Rebel Games and the UMBC Tournament. This game marks the start of a slate of seven non-conference doubleheaders for the Pioneers over the next month.
SHU at UMBC Tournament... Sacred Heart lost four games at the UMBC Tournament last weekend. The Pioneers fell Friday to Cleveland State and UMBC and then lost to Holy Cross and Niagara.
Scouting the Pirates... Seton Hall is off to a 3-16 start this season after dropping their first two sets of Big East doubleheaders. Two of the Pirates wins came over SHU's rival Fairleigh Dickinson. Baranek has been the leading hitter of the regular players posting a .233 average in 19 games. Schweitzer is the Pirates top pitcher, with a 4.55 ERA in her 12 starts.
SHU Schedule... The Pioneers April schedule includes seven nonconference doubleheaders and the regular slate of Northeast Conference twinbills as well.
Northeast Conference... The Pioneers were picked to finish seventh in the NEC preseason coaches' poll. Defending champion Long Island was picked to win the league followed. Robert Morris was second with Wagner third, both teams picking up first place votes. Mount St. Mary's was fourth followed by Quinnipiac and Monmouth. Saint Francis (PA), Central Connecticut and Fairleigh Dickinson were the bottom three in the poll.
Up Next... The Pioneers open their Northeast Conference schedule with a trip to Pennsylvania to face Robert Morris on Saturday and Saint Francis (PA) Sunday.
