Baseball Drops 11-1 Decision at CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, CT - Junior hurler John Tesseyman allowed just five hits in pitching his second consecutive complete game as the Central Connecticut State baseball team defeated Sacred Heart 11-1 on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast Conference tussle.

Freshman Steve Tedesco (Mission Viejo, CA) had three of the five Pioneer hits. The other two came off the bat of freshman center fielder Justin Mulrain (Brantford, Ontario).

The lone Pioneer run came in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Bobby McKee (Massapequa, NY) that scored Tedesco, who had led off the game with a double.

Freshman Jared Balbach started for the Pioneers and fell to 0-4 with the loss. He allowed four runs, three earned, and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Jak Kidd collected four of the 16 CCSU hits in the game. Senior second baseman Matt Memoli had three hits and four RBI.

The loss dropped SHU to 9-15 overall and 1-3 in the NEC. Central is now 11-5 and 3-1.
