
Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision to Maine

NEW HAVEN, CT - Megan Smith had a match-high 15 kills and collected eight digs to lead the University of Maine women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Sacred Heart in the first round of the Yale Inviational Friday night.
Maine won the first game 30-18, before the Pioneers came back to take the second 30-28. Freshman Mydori Saipale led SHU in the second game with six kills and four digs. Junior Lynne Principio also had four digs in the game for the Pioneers.
The Black Bears turned up the heat in the next two games and put the Pioneers away by scores of 30-15 and 30-18.
Saipale led the Pioneers in the match with 13 total kills, in addition to collecting 14 digs. Principio finished with 11 digs. Freshman Courtney Kidd-Kalubek finished the match with 29 assists, three kills and nine digs for SHU.
