Russell Nabs Third Straight Akadema/NEC Pitcher of the Week Award

Fairfield, CT - Freshman Jen Russell (Seymour, CT) has been named the Akadema/Northeast Conference Pitcher and Rookie of the Week for the week of April 7-13. This is the third straight week that Russell has been tabbed the league's top pitcher.
Russell continued her recent hot streak, posting two more wins on the week, to run her winning streak to seven straight starts. In 17 innings she allowed just one earned run while setting down nine batters via strikeout. Russell is now 5-0 in NEC play and has allowed just four earned runs in 34 innings, good for an ERA of 0.82. In addition to her pitching, Russell also socked a two run, game tying double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in game two against Yale, a game the Pioneers would later win in 10 innings.
The Pioneers are back in action Wednesday when they host Fairfield at Pioneer Park. First pitch is set for 3:45 pm.
