Jen Russell Named NEC Pitcher of the Week

Fairfield, CT - Freshman Jen Russell (Seymour, CT) has been named the Akadema/Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 31-April 7. This is the second straight week that Russell has been tabbed the league's top pitcher.
Russell has now won five straight starts after going 3-0 last week. She allowed just two earned runs on the week in 18.0 innings of work, while striking out 17. Russell, who threw a complete game shutout in the Pioneers' 8-0, five-inning victory over Hartford. The freshman is 4-0 in conference play with a 0.78 ERA, having allowed just three earned runs in 27.0 innings of work.
The Pioneers are back in action Thursday when they host Yale in a non-league doubleheader. First pitch at Pioneer Park is set for 3:00 pm.
