Box Score Pioneer Vision Post Game - Interview with Lindsay Kasten
and Dana Luhrs (Video)
Fairfield, CT – Lindsay Kasten
scored just over a minute into overtime to give the Sacred Heart
Pioneers a 2-1 win over the Davidson Wildcats Tuesday afternoon at
Campus Field, snapping Davidson's five-game winning streak and
giving SHU their second win of the season.
Dana
Luhrs set up the game-winner on a pass from the right following
a penalty corner, finding Kasten at the top of the circle, where
she drilled the shot home for her team-leading fourth goal of the
year at the 71:06 mark. Luhrs' hustle helped draw the penalty
corner, leading a rush up the field into the circle and forcing
Davidson to commit the penalty. Luhrs also tied the game for
the Pioneers with a little less than nine minutes remaining in
regulation, dribbling from the left to the top of the circle before
firing in the equalizer at the 61:07 mark.
The Pioneers had to stave off a number of chances after Steph
Grauer was issued a yellow card at the 65:36 mark, putting the
Pioneers a player down for much of the end of regulation.
However, Kim
Stow was her usual stellar self, making big saves on Gray
Robinson with 1:41 left and Clare Perry with 2:40 left. Stow
finished with 13 saves on the afternoon, also stopping English
twice from point blank with a little less than 17 minutes left to
keep Sacred Heart within one. Davidson's lone goal on the day
came at the 46:13 mark when Jen Mostellar's third shot in as many
seconds finally beat Stow after she saved Mostellar's initial two
shots.
Sacred Heart hosts Northeast Conference rival Monmouth in their
next game on Friday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m., the Pioneer's third
of four games over an eight day stretch this week at Campus
Field.
