NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team battled wire-to-wire but fell 1-0 to Wagner in Northeast Conference (NEC) action on Friday afternoon at Johnson Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Seahawks broke through at the 33:18 mark, countering after a SHU penalty corner to score the lone goal of the game. Despite trailing, the Pioneers continued to press offensively, generating five penalty corners in the fourth quarter, but were unable to find the equalizer.
Sacred Heart tallied 14 shots, including four on goal, while holding Wagner to one goal on 16 attempts. Junior goalkeeper

Ines Braithwaite paced the attack with four shots, two of which were on target. The Pioneers held an 8-7 advantage with penalty corners.
