Benson Earns NFHCA All-Region Honors

Celia Benson was named to the Mideast Second Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its Division I All-Region teams on Wednesday, and Sacred Heart University sophomore midfielder Celia Benson earned a spot on the Mideast Second Team.

Benson, who was named to the All-NEC First Team earlier this fall, collects the first all-region honor of her career. The Scituate, Mass., native started all 18 games for the Pioneers, delivering a strong sophomore campaign in the midfield. A consistent playmaker and a key component of the Pioneers' transition game, Benson totaled 10 points on four goals and two assists.

Sacred Heart has now had at least one student-athlete earn all-region recognition for the third consecutive year. Senior Emma Brayford earned second-team honors last season, and in 2023, Isabelle Chamberlain was also named to the second team.

The Pioneers finished the season 7–11 overall and 5–4 in NEC play, placing fifth in the conference.
